    Celebrating Black Joy (PRIDE edition)

    In 2021, the BQYC is hosted a two-day event on June 24 and June 25. The virtual event focused on the theme of Celebrating Black Joy and was designed to bring community together and will also serve as a fundraiser for the BQYC.

    Day 1: Thursday June 24, 2021 will feature a closed group for Black Nonbinary folks and Queer and Trans women.

    Day 2: Friday June 25, 2021 will be our virtual pride event and will feature a youth panel, group activities, and virtual show of Black Queer and Trans talent.

    Virtual Pride Panel - A message for parents and caregivers

    Kayleigh Xavier as a young and passionate individual Kayleigh knew to contribute to her community (The LGBTQIA+ Community) She has contributed by being a drag performer and sitting on several panels about sexual health and transgender issues facing today's climate. Has helped pioneer with the creation of TRANS PRIDE in canada's capital OTTAWA. and she continues to share the love and resources to many others.

    Virtual Pride Panel - Reflections on Coming Out as Trans

    Tamiarea aka T is a trans, gender fluid, multi-disciplinary artist, educator and workshop facilitator whose work focuses mental-health, the gender continuum, and reimagining a decolonized queer black future. He strives to curate spaces wherein he and other black folks with marginalized genders and neurodiversity can heal. Here is T’s reflection on coming out.

    Virtual Pride Panel - Responding to Black Queer Youth Mental Health Needs

    Mir Asoh is a Cameroonian-Malagasy multidisciplinary artist -- with a current focus on poetry, collage art and zine making. They are the Community Arts Facilitator for The Black Mosaic, which is a virtual hub for Black creatives to share artistic works-in-progress, while receiving support and feedback from other Black creatives. In collaboration with Imani Busby and Adele Lukusa, Mir co-created The Little Book of Black Joy.

    King Louboutin is apart of the Boutique House of Loubiton Toronto Chapter. He walk face and realness. He is a Black, transgender man, business owner, and safe consumption/harm reduction advocate. Based in Toronto, his work focuses on education/ safe use/ and first response around recreational substances, centering restorative justice.
