Supports for Black Queer & Trans people during COVID-19

In 2021, the Black Queer Youth Collective provided direct support to Black Queer and Trans individuals who required assistance due to job loss and unemployment during the pandemic. The BQYC COVID-19 Assistance project which was originally designed as a 3-month project but ran for 10 months to ensure that Black Queer and Trans youth were well supported during the COVID-19 recovery phase. Over the ten month period, the project supported 50 Black Queer and Trans individuals. A vast majority of participants identified within the Trans spectrum between the ages of 21-29 years old.

Additionally, the BQYC reported intervening in six crisis situations involving participants who were unstably housed.
